Ever since I started working in the business, many years ago, during the school holidays, I have been fascinated to see what our customers create using our products. This competition took us on an inspiring journey into our customers visions and previous achievements.

We have been in awe of some of the brilliant ideas and the many talented people who have sent in their ideas. We have had an absolutely amazing response. Some of your work is truly outstanding and has blown us away.

We received well over 100 entries, from people with lots of experience and people just starting out, professional sculptors, blacksmiths, students, artists and fabricators, both from the UK and overseas, so perhaps you can understand how hard it has been to whittle all these fantastic entries down to a shortlist.

The creative suggestions have been so varied; ranging from modern contemporary pieces to traditional sculptures and have been really well thought out with strong links to F.H. Brundle.

Sadly not everyone can win in a competition and deciding on a winner of the competition from our shortlist of 3 has been a very difficult decision but we’ve made it.

The winner is Emma Stothard of Emma Stothard Sculpture Ltd (https://www.emmastothard.com) and her amazing horse made from wire, being shod by a blacksmith. The combination of a stunning final design, drawing on the early years, and material chosen, will provide a lasting celebration of our 130 year anniversary and the contribution my father, Richard Brundle MBE, made to the business in the 60 years he worked within it.

We would also like to thank our 2 other shortlist candidates:

Roger Davies of Roger Davies Art, http://www.rogerdaviesart.co.uk/

James Godbold of Godbold Blacksmiths Ltd, http://www.wroughtironsmith.com

We will be working closely with Emma as the work takes shape and will keep you
up-to-date via our website, social media and newsletter.

Once again, a massive thank you to all our entrants who blew us away with their creativity and passion. Also, a massive thank you to Richard Twiddy our Design Office Manager, who liaised with all the entrants. I know he enjoyed this competition as much as I did.

On behalf of everyone at F.H. Brundle,

Best wishes to you all,

Michael Brundle
